Dr Amie Hesbach

Amie Lamoreaux Hesbach is a doctor of physical therapy, certified canine rehabilitation therapist and practitioner, and nationally certified Pilates trainer based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA (formerly of The Hague, The Netherlands).
She owns EmpowerPhysio, providing comprehensive, forward-thinking, focused, and personalized solutions to mobility challenges for pets and pet parents and educating, mentoring, and coaching pet physical therapy and rehabilitation professionals in a NeuroPlasticity approach to rehabilitation.
Having worked with people and pets for over twenty years, she has merged the art and science of conventional physical therapy with innovative and intuitive approaches, giving people and pets more comfort, control, and confidence in movement.
Amie has provided workshops and lectures in Belgium, Finland, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom, focusing on the application of practical manual therapy and therapeutic exercise techniques with a NeuroRehabilitation, NeuroFacilitation, and NeuroPlasticity approach, adapting Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation to small animals.
Amie is a member of the International Association of Veterinary Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy and the former president of the Animal Rehabilitation Special Interest Group of the American Physical Therapy Association. She has published in numerous peer reviewed professional journals and has contributed to textbooks, blogs, and online educational forums for pet parents and pet physical therapy and rehabilitation professionals alike.

What is IAVRPT’s Purpose?
The IAVRPT is the first and still one of the only groups around the globe which enables animal rehabilitation practitioners and scientists from all backgrounds to come together with a common goal.
IAVRPT is dedicated to the practice, teaching, and research of veterinary rehabilitation and physical therapy, furthering scientific investigation, and providing better patient care based on sound scientific study.
